Regarding The Dollar Exchange Rate... Al-Sadr Proposes To Summon The Minister Of Finance And The Governor Of The Central Bank "Immediately"

Posted On2022-02-18 By Sotaliraq   On Thursday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, presented six proposals regarding the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar, including the immediate summoning of Finance Minister Ali Allawi and Central Bank Governor Mustafa Ghaleb.

Al-Sadr’s proposals included, according to a statement, “strongly stopping currency smuggling, looking into the matter of some banks (such as Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Al-Qabd, and Al-Ansari) belonging to some people who control the currency, and other private banks, and dealing firmly with banks belonging to some of the parties controlling the country and the people.” .

In addition, al-Sadr urged "to organize the Iraqi currency market centrally and in a correct manner, by enacting some laws that increase the value of the dinar exchange rate."

Al-Sadr had called yesterday, Wednesday, to spare the Iraqis the damages of interest resulting from the high exchange rates of the dollar in the country.

Al-Sadr wrote in his Twitter post, "The rise in the dollar exchange rate, and the benefits and damages that it entails, should not at all cause a rise in the prices of commodities in the markets, especially the important ones."

He stressed the need to work through economic security, to punish all merchants who seek to do so, and the like, and according to the law, especially among the people approaching the month of Ramadan.

It is noteworthy that the annual inflation in Iraq rose significantly after raising the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar in the 2021 budget, to equal every 100 dollars 145 thousand dinars, after it was 121 thousand.

It is worth noting that all the prices of materials and commodities in the Iraqi market witnessed a significant increase, in conjunction with the devaluation of the dinar, which sparked a wave of strong resentment among the popular circles, as well as the objections of some interested in economic affairs.   LINK

Ali Al-Tamimi: The Decision Of The Federal Court Regarding The Oil And Gas Law In The Region.. Is Binding And Has Become.. And The International Courts Do Not Enter It

Thursday 17 February 2022 15:22 | political Number of readings: 186  Baghdad / NINA / - The legal expert, Ali Al-Tamimi, confirmed: "The decision of the Federal Court regarding the oil and gas law in the region... is binding and has become... and the international courts do not enter into it."

He said in a press statement: "This decision renders the region's oil and gas law null and void for violating the constitutional provisions in accordance with Articles 110, 111, 112, 115, 122 and 130 of the Constitution."

The law, according to Al-Tamimi, required the regional government to hand over oil imports with a retroactive effect from the date of concluding the contracts and to allow the Ministry of Oil and the Office of Financial Supervision to view these contracts. In the event of volumes, these funds will be deducted from the 17% allocated to the region.

He continued: "The Federal Court was based on Article 111 of the Constitution that oil and gas belong to the Iraqi people, and therefore the management of oil and gas is from foreign trade and is within the jurisdiction of the central Iraqi government in accordance with Article 110 of the Constitution.

As for the concept of current fields contained in Article 112, it means that they are The fields that are produced, explored, and developed, according to the most acceptable interpretation, and not only the productive ones, as the Kurdistan Region sees.

Al-Tamimi stated: "Iraq is a federal country, not a confederation, and SOMO has exclusive jurisdiction in exporting oil... The decision of the Federal Court is binding and has become, and it is not possible, as some say, to go to international courts. This decision is exclusively related to the sovereignty of the state."

On the concluded contracts, Al-Tamimi explained: "International companies return to the Kurdistan region of Iraq in compensation for damage, not to the central government."/End of 3
