Tishwash:  American Airlines resumes flying in Iraqi airspace

The Iraqi Ministry of Transportation announced, on Monday, the return of American Airlines to use Iraqi airspace, by crossing to its intended destinations.

The ministry said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "the return of the American lines came after a break that lasted for several years," without giving further details.  link

The presidents of the republic, ministers and the supreme judiciary agreed Monday to call on all political forces to reunite and unite the ranks to reach a real and realistic treatment of the political crisis.    

"The president of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, hosted President Barham Saleh and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and discussed with them the developments of the political scene and its implications for the economic and service realities of the country," the judiciary said in a statement received by Nas.  

"The parties agreed to call on all political forces to reunite and unite the ranks to reach a real and realistic treatment of the political crisis to ensure the unity and interests of Iraq at all levels," he said.  

"The parties also called on all elites and media and cultural events to calm down and spread the spirit of love and community solidarity among all segments and components of the Iraqi people," he said.

Tishwash:  The Governor of the Central Bank clarifies the most prominent obstacles to Islamic banks

The Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Mustafa Ghaleb Makheif, explained, today, Tuesday, the most prominent obstacles to Islamic banks.

And the bank’s media office said in a statement received by (Al-Oula News), that “the Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb Mukhif, met a delegation from the International Islamic Rating Agency at the headquarters of the Central Bank in Baghdad, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to develop the agency’s work in Iraq and its classification mechanisms for Islamic banks.”

And between Mukhaib, "the most prominent obstacles facing Islamic banks in Iraq and the efforts that are being made to advance them."

For its part, the agency’s delegation confirmed that “the Iraqi Islamic banking sector is one of the promising sectors,” expressing “the agency’s readiness to cooperate with the Central Bank in implementing its vision and providing the necessary support.”    link

Tishwash:  Finance and the World Bank organize a workshop to develop public debt management

The Ministry of Finance organized, today, Monday, a workshop (Developing Public Debt Management) in coordination with the World Bank.

The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "under the guidance and follow-up of Minister of Finance Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, the Ministry of Finance held today, Monday, June 13, 2022, a workshop to develop the work of the Public Debt and Debt Management Department in accordance with modern international standards, in cooperation with the Bank International, with the participation of a group of specialists and experts in aspects of public debt management.

She added that, "during which, opinions and views related to the tasks and priorities of debt management in Iraq were exchanged, and strengths and weaknesses were identified towards achieving an ideal and solid level of performance, in line with international quality standards and requirements."

And she added, "The workshop comes within the framework of a joint action plan with the Fund for the Reform, Recovery and Reconstruction of Iraq, which is funded by donor countries over the next two years, as the workshop is one of the first fruits of efforts to advance the management of the Public Debt Department, and a nucleus for constructive cooperation between the Iraqi Ministry of Finance and the Bank. The international community in the field of developing the institutional structure and legal frameworks, as well as refining the skills and experiences of debt management workers, and achieving high levels of efficiency, performance and transparency.”

And she indicated: "The workshop also discussed the potential risk management aspect of the issue of public debt, both internal and external, as well as managing sovereign guarantees, raising the level of reports submitted related to the work of the Ministry of Finance, and measuring their quality to be able to strengthen the pillars of the Iraqi economy and possess real buffers to confront financial and economic shocks."

She pointed out that "the process of developing the public debt strategy is among the priorities of the reform plan (the white paper), and within the framework of the Ministry of Finance's continued commitment to developing the rational management of financial resources and promoting sustainable and balanced development."   link
