Butterfly   Al-Sadr accuses parties he did name of plunging Iraq into "perilous" regional battles 2022-02-03 08:54

Shafaq News/ The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, accused parties he did not name of plunging Iraq into "perilous" regional wars by targeting Gulf states under the pretext of "normalization".

Al-Sadr tweeted on Thursday, "after escalating violence by terrorist armed groups against the interests of the people and the political forces, some terrorist outlaws have attempted to plunge Iraq into perilous in regional war by targeting a Gulf state under the pretext of normalization, the Yemen war, or whatsoever."

"In general, I categorically refuse involving Iraq in those conflicts. I associate myself with those who demand stopping the war against Yemen and I associate myself with stopping the normalization with the Zionist army," he said, "however, this is not achieved by violence and infighting, but with dialogue and communication with regional states. It is not achieved by exposing the sanctities and people of Iraq to risk. Iraq needs peace, prestige, and independence from external influence."

"It is essential that Iraq does not serve as a launchpad to attack neighboring countries," he said, urging the federal government to "deal seriously with the culprits; otherwise, it will be negligent and its silence might not end up being a good thing." Earlier today, the United Arab Emirates said that an Iraqi armed faction claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the Gulf monarchy. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/Al-Sadr-accuses-parties-he-did-name-of-plunging-Iraq-into-perilous-regional-battles

butterfly   A sudden decision: a force of the Shiite Framework would join Al-Sadr Coalition 2022-02-03 06:46

Shafaq News/ On Thursday, political sources revealed that a part of the Shiite Coordination Framework would join the Sadrist bloc in a unified coalition after the Federal Supreme Court dismissed the complaint lodged by the Framework to challenge the Sadrist movement's status as the largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament.

According to Iraq's constitution, the largest bloc in parliament can choose the new prime minister.

In a condition of anonymity, the sources told Shafaq News Agency that a group of 25 deputies affiliated with the Framework is waiting for "a tweet from Al-Sadr" and "this evening's meeting of the Framework" before announcing its alliance with the Sadrist bloc.

"This step came in response to the initiative of Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani." They said.

Last week, KDP Leader said his initiative aimed "to address the problems and prepare a suitable political environment as well as remove the obstacles hindering the political process in Iraq."

Last month, a source in the Al-Sadr office revealed exclusively to Shafaq News Agency that Al-Fateh and the National Contract want to join al-Sadr in an alliance. Still, the head of the Sadrist position about Nuri al-Maliki's participation is preventing this step.

Al-Sadr blames the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, who headed two consecutive governments (2006-2016) for all the corruption, violence, and even ISIS's invasion of Iraq in 2014.

butterfly   Al-Sadr has said he will ally with "whoever puts Iraq's national interests first." That is an indication, Iraqi officials and Western diplomats say, that he may exclude some Iran-backed Shiite blocs in favor of parties with cross-sectarian support.

The Sadrist bloc emerged as the clear winner with 73 seats in the 329-seat parliament. Takadum party, one of two main Sunni political groups and led by the speaker of the outgoing parliament Mohammed al-Halbousi, followed with 37 seats. Former prime minister Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law bloc came third with 33 seats.

The Iran-backed al-Fatah Alliance won only 17 seats, compared with 45 in 2018.

Despite many mediations between the Sadrist and the Framework about the shape of the next government, including two visits from the prominent Iranian Commander, Ismail Qaani, Al-Sadr insists on his demand to form a national majority government. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/A-sudden-decision-a-force-of-the-Shiite-Framework-would-join-Al-Sadr-Coalition

butterfly   The central bank resolves the controversy over the dollar exchange rate

2022-02-03   The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ammar Hamad Khalaf, announced that there is no change in the dollar exchange rate, indicating that monetary policy is exclusively his competence.

Khalaf told the official newspaper on the sidelines of his visit to Egypt with a delegation that includes the governor of the Central Bank and a number of Iraqi bank managers, that the rise in oil prices led to an increase in foreign reserves and recorded a significant growth of foreign currency last year 2021 and the current year is unprecedented compared to previous years.

butterfly   What is the decision of the Federal Court to nominate the President of the Republic and the ministers?!

2022-02-03   Talk about the Federal Court's decision today, which included a response to a lawsuit submitted by deputies from the coordination framework, considering them to be the largest bloc.

It is clear that the court's decision today, although it rejected an appeal as mentioned above, but it is clear that it did not consider the Sadrist bloc, whose deputies' signatures were submitted on the same day, to be a larger or more bloc.

Therefore, there is no greater bloc, neither from the Sadrist movement nor from the coordination framework, and what they went to in terms of struggle is worthless.

I add: The interpretation of the largest bloc today, according to the decision of the Federal Court, is the product of a coalition of blocs and personalities “after the completion of the naming of the President of the Republic” (which is called collecting the signatures of two-thirds of the parliament, not a simple majority), and then naming the prime minister by a gathering of deputies so that their number is “the most” in The Council (meaning even if by a simple majority), which is contrary to the decision of the Federal Court at the time of Medhat al-Mahmoud, who was of the opinion that the largest or most bloc declared itself in the first session.

In general, what we saw today, as usual, is rubbery decisions from the Federal Court, which is something that has become almost usual with changing governments, changing interpretations.

butterfly   The most important thing today is that there is plenty of time to cross the issue of naming the president of the republic until the prime minister is named, and it is clear now that the path will not be easy, whether to nominate the president of the republic and the normal Kurdish (because he needs two-thirds of the members of Parliament) nor the prime minister where the Shiite component (coordinating framework and the Sadrist bloc It is customary that whoever nominates the prime minister, as their struggles divide them, and the position of prime minister will be semi-coalition between the combined blocs and not of a predominantly Shiite character. https://burathanews.com/arabic/articles/406941

butterfly    A new comment from the Kurdistan Democratic Party regarding the voting session for the post of the President of the Republic

2022-02-03 | 10:13  The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Rebin Salam, confirmed today, Thursday, that the political forces that attended the first session of the House of Representatives intensified their efforts in order to ensure the achievement of a comfortable quorum for holding the voting session on the position of the President of the Republic, noting that the number currently guaranteed to attend the session reached 240 deputies and this The number can be increased.

Salam said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "The interpretation of the Federal Court for the total number of attendees to the voting session on the President of the Republic is a constitutional matter, and it is an enforceable decision, given that the decisions of the Federal Court are obligatory and not subject to appeal."

He added, "The Kurdistan Democratic Party began, before this interpretation, to intensively mobilize efforts with its partners from the political forces that attended the first session of Parliament in order to provide a comfortable majority to pass the party's candidate for the post of President of the Republic."

The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party indicated, "The number of deputies expected to attend the next Monday session has reached 240, and we have continuous moves to increase this number during the next two days, to ensure that the session is not postponed or delayed for any reason." https://www.alsumaria.tv/news/

butterfly  The coordinating framework sends an invitation to the Sadrist bloc after the decision of the Federal Court - Urgent

2022-02-03 | 06:15   Today, Thursday, the coordinating framework confirmed that the Federal Court's decision is respected, but we are proceeding with the formation of the government, because we believe that we are still the largest bloc.

The leader said in the frame Saad Al Saadi In an interview with Alsumaria News, "The Federal Court's decision to dismiss the lawsuit filed regarding the largest bloc is respected, but the coordination framework is continuing to form the government because we believe that we are still the largest bloc," adding, "If we are unable to do so, we will go to the opposition."

Al-Saadi extended an invitation to the Sadrist bloc, saying: "We called on the Sadrist bloc to reconcile with the coordinating framework. Either the framework should all go with it to form the largest bloc and form the government, or we do not go fragmented and we all go towards the opposition."

He added, "The coordinating framework is the largest bloc, and we have so far more than 88 seats in Parliament and are able to form a government, but we will not take this step without the Sadrist bloc, believing in the necessity of their participation with us, because a Shiite party went alone to form a government, which means that his step is doomed to failure." https://www.alsumaria.tv/news/

butterfly   Parliamentarians file lawsuits against the candidacy of Zebari for the presidency of Iraq

2022-02-03 05:29   Shafaq News/ On Thursday, a number of members of the Iraqi parliament filed lawsuits against the candidacy of Hoshyar Zebari for the position of the next presidency.

A private source told Shafaq News Agency, “Members of the Iraqi parliament filed lawsuits against the candidacy of Zebari, in their official capacity, as members of parliament, and their number reached 5, including three members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

According to the source, they claimed that Zebari did not meet the constitutional conditions to run for office as a result of his dismissal from the Ministry of Finance in 2016 on suspicion of involvement in files related to integrity.

This comes at a time when the Presidency of the Parliament announced the completion of all preparations for the session to elect the new President of the Republic, which is scheduled to be held next Monday.

The competition is limited to Saleh, who is the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Bafel Talabani, and Hoshyar Zebari, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Massoud Barzani.

Most of the odds indicate that Zebari will be president of the republic, and that the latter will cost the Sadrist bloc’s candidate to form the Iraqi government.

In terms of numbers, the tripartite alliance (Al-Sadr, the Democratic Party and the Sovereignty) constitutes about two-thirds of the parliament’s members, as the Sadrist bloc has 73 seats, the Democratic Party has 31, and the Sovereignty Alliance has 67 seats, bringing a total of 171 seats out of a total of 329 deputies. shafaq.com

butterfly   After the Federal Court’s decision… Al-Maliki’s coalition is waving a larger bloc within days

2022-02-03 05:18  Shafaq News/ The State of Law coalition led by Nuri al-Maliki commented on the decision of the Federal Supreme Court regarding the “largest bloc”, which was issued earlier today, Thursday.

The leader of the coalition, Haider al-Lami, told Shafaq News, that the decision of the Federal Supreme Court, regarding the “largest bloc”, will prompt all political forces to conduct new dialogues and negotiations, in order to form this bloc, whose task will be to form the new Iraqi government.

Al-Lami indicated that dialogues and contacts are continuing between the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement, in order to form the “largest bloc” between the two parties, and if that does not happen, there are dialogues to form a larger bloc that brings together different political forces, during the next few days.

Earlier today, the Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) rejected the coordination framework’s lawsuit in its appeal to the largest parliamentary bloc.

Representatives Alia Nassif and Atwan Al-Atwani from the coordinating framework had recently filed a lawsuit against the largest bloc during the first session of the Iraqi Council of Representatives in its current session, which was held by the head of the age.

The “Coordination Framework” and the “Sadr Bloc” had each submitted a request to the Presidency of the House of Representatives during the first session on December 9, as it is the “largest parliamentary bloc” that will be tasked with forming the next government.   shafaq.com

butterfly   Nassif, one of the two MPs who filed the appeal, continued, by saying: “Therefore, today both blocs are no longer the largest bloc, but it will start forming from now on and submitting it to the President of the Republic.”

And earlier today, the Federal Supreme Court, the highest judicial authority in Iraq, rejected the coordination framework’s lawsuit in its appeal with the largest parliamentary bloc.

A judicial source told Shafaq News Agency, that the Federal Court rejected the lawsuit filed regarding the largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament tasked with forming the next government.

butterfly  A heavy-caliber surprise… One of the coordinating framework forces allied with the Sadrist bloc and is waiting for a “tweet”

2022-02-03 02:26 Shafaq News/ Well-informed political sources revealed a high-caliber surprise, represented by the joining of one of the coordinating framework forces to an alliance with the Sadrist bloc, after the Federal Supreme Court rejected the “framework” lawsuit regarding the largest parliamentary bloc that will be tasked with forming the government.

The sources told Shafaq News Agency, on condition that their names not be mentioned, that one of the coordinating framework forces will announce in the coming hours its alliance with the Sadrist bloc, pointing out that the announcement is waiting for two things, the first is a tweet from al-Sadr that will indicate that, and the other is a meeting of the framework forces to be held this evening.

She added, “This step came from the initiative of Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani.”

The sources pointed out that “the party that will join the Sadrist bloc is collectively composed of 25 seats, including independents.

The commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Ismail Qaani, made two visits to Iraq last month, in an attempt to bridge the rift between the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the forces of the coordination framework.

butterfly   But al-Sadr stuck to his position calling for the formation of a national majority government, stressing the exclusion of the leader of the State of Law coalition Nuri al-Maliki from participating in it.

Al-Sadr blames Al-Maliki, who headed the government for two consecutive terms (2006-2014), for rampant corruption and acts of violence in the country, in addition to the ISIS invasion of a third of Iraq in the summer of 2014.

The Sadrist bloc topped the October 10 elections, with 73 seats, followed by the Progress Alliance with 37, the State of Law coalition with 33, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party with 31.

Al-Sadr seeks to form a national majority government, unlike the rest of the coordinating framework forces, which demand a consensual government in which all political forces in Parliament participate, similar to previous sessions.   shafaq.com

butterfly   Mishaan Al-Jubouri: Barham Salih will work to disrupt the holding of the presidential election session.. and this is evidence

Posted, 2022-02-03 13:37Shafaq News/ The leader of the Sovereignty Alliance, Mishaan al-Jubouri, said that Barham Salih will work to disrupt the convening of the Iraqi parliament session next Monday, which is related to the election of a president of the republic.

Al-Jubouri said in a tweet to him, “When Barham Salih, the candidate for a second term as President of the Republic, realized that the victory would be for his competitor, the candidate Hoshyar Zebari, he went to ask the Federal Court about the quorum necessary for the session to elect the President of the Republic.”

He added, “If her answer is that it is two-thirds, he will work to disrupt the session so that he will remain in his position for as long as possible.”

The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to elect a new president for the country by a two-thirds majority on February 8, from among 25 candidates who applied to fill the position.

The competition is limited to Saleh, who is the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Bafel Talabani, and Hoshyar Zebari, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Massoud Barzani.

According to the political custom followed throughout the previous sessions, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan has held the position of President of the Republic since the overthrow of the previous regime in 2003.

But in terms of numbers, the fact that the Kurdistan Democratic Party won 31 parliamentary seats in the recent legislative elections, compared to only 17 seats for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, may reverse the equation this time.   shafaq.com

butterfly   Iraq: Barzani's party calls on the Shiite "coordinating framework" to vote for Zebari

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Massoud Barzani, called on the Shiite political forces affiliated with the "coordination framework" to vote for the party's candidate, Hoshyar Zebari, for the post of President of the Republic, as a positive step that comes in response to Barzani's initiative to resolve the complex political crisis.

Masoud Haider, advisor to the Kurdish leader, Masoud Barzani, stated that the party expects the "coordinating framework" to vote for Zebari as president of the republic, as a response to Barzani's initiative to contain the political crisis in the country.

And he stated in a tweet on Twitter, “We expect the coordination framework as a response to President Barzani’s initiative and the positive positions of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the efforts of the Sunni component led by Muhammad al-Halbousi and Khamis al-Khanjar, to have a positive attitude and to take a step forward and vote for Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency. Butterfly   The Framework Announces The Move Towards Collecting Parliamentary Signatures To Change The Dollar Exchange Rate

Economic Last Update 02/02/2022 | 11:23 AM  The deputy of the coordination framework, Ibtisam Al-Hilali, revealed, on Tuesday, the framework’s move to collect parliamentary signatures to restore the dollar exchange rate to its previous rate, surprising at the government’s insistence on maintaining the exchange rate, especially with the recovery of oil markets during the past weeks.

Al-Hilali said in a statement to "The Information", "The coordination framework is moving towards collecting parliamentary signatures in order to restore the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar or reduce its current price."

She added that "the framework's movement in this regard is still continuing until the will of the Iraqi people, who were affected by the high exchange rate of the dollar, is achieved," noting that "the government raised the exchange rate in order to supplement the 2012 budget, and now it has obtained additional funds due to the high oil price."

And the representative of the State of Law coalition, Firas Al-Maslmawi, confirmed in a previous statement, that his coalition and a number of members of Parliament within the same direction will not allow the budget to be passed for the current year except after a reduction in the dollar exchange rate against the dinar. https://almaalomah.me/2022/02/01/579838/

02/02/2022 | 3:55 PM    A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Ali Hussein, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the outgoing and expired government of Mustafa Al-Kazemi is working to increase the World Bank’s stockpile only from oil revenues of more than 8 billion dollars per month.

Hussein told the “Information” agency, “What is happening in Iraq is the opposite of all the data and cases of economic recovery. He added, “The current government should take advantage of the period of economic recovery through the rise in global oil prices to more than 90 dollars per barrel and work, with the first step, to return the price of the dollar to what it was previously,” noting that “Al-Kazemi’s government is working to increase the World Bank’s stocks only.” From oil revenues amounting to more than 8 billion dollars per month.”

Hussein explained, “In all times and international systems, there is an annual plan, five-year plan, and a decimal plan. Either the Iraqi Ministry of Planning has not yet developed the annual plan!”

butterfly   The street or the reference.. The framework is waving one of the two options for the inauguration of Al-Maliki as Vice President of the Republic

2022-02-02 02:50   Shafaq News/ The coordination framework forces agreed, on Wednesday, to continue their deliberative meetings regarding the initiative of Democratic Party leader Massoud Barzani, as well as determining the framework’s final destination regarding participation in the next government or not.

A source from the coordination framework, told Shafak News Agency, that “the leaders of the coordination framework forces are also looking to determine the final position regarding participation in the next government, amid the insistence of the leader of the Sadrist movement to exclude an important component of the framework’s components, which is (the rule of law).”

The source added, “The framework forces identified one of their most important demands, which is to grant the position of Vice President of the Republic in favor of the leader of the state of law, Nuri al-Maliki, as the most important guarantees that the framework is looking for, as well as not to prejudice the institution of the Popular Mobilization, or to restructure it under any name, in addition to not prejudice With the leaders of the armed factions, which played a major role in liberating the western provinces from the control of the terrorist Daesh.

He explained that “the meetings in view of the foregoing will continue until the day of the parliament session to vote on the candidate for the president of the republic,” expressing his hope that “a meeting between the framework and al-Sadr will be determined in the coming days to negotiate directly and talk about the most important demands between the two Shiite poles.” .

butterfly   And the source continued in the coordinating framework: “If our demand for the inauguration of Al-Maliki as Vice President of the Republic is achieved, the knot of dispute will be resolved and things will proceed smoothly to form the national government,” adding:

“If the negotiations stumble and the matter remains as it is, it may be possible to move the street to pressure towards Unifying the Shiite house, as well as knocking on the doors of reference for the second time, or resorting to another paper that may constitute pressure towards resolving matters.”

The last coordination framework meeting continued, until dawn on Wednesday, after controversy intensified due to different visions and the lack of available options, in light of an existing dispute with the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, less than a week before a critical session of the Iraqi parliament to choose a president for the country, and then assign a candidate to form a new government.

The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to hold a session, the second of its legislative life, next Monday, in which it chooses the president.

Most of the odds indicate that Hoshyar Zebari, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, will be president of the republic, and that the latter will assign the Sadrist bloc’s candidate to form the Iraqi government.

In terms of numbers, the tripartite alliance (Al-Sadr, the Democratic Party and the Sovereignty) constitutes about two-thirds of the parliament’s members, as the Sadrist bloc has 73 seats, the Democratic Party has 31, and the Sovereignty Alliance has 67 seats, bringing a total of 171 seats out of a total of 329 deputies. shafaq.com

butterfly   An Economist Reveals The Reasons For The Increase In Inflation In Iraq

ECONOMIC  02/02/2022 | 7:12 PM  The economic expert, Ali Al-Fariji, revealed, on Tuesday, the reasons for the increase in the rate of inflation in Iraq and linking it to the bad financial and economic policy of the Iraqi government.

Al-Fraiji told the "Information" agency, "The increase in inflation in Iraq, especially the capital, Baghdad, to more than 25 percent over the year 2012, especially in the health and food aspects, is due to several economic factors under the title "poor financial policy and management of the Iraqi economy," noting that "there are Very big confusions are taking place in the financial and economic policies in Iraq.”

He added, "The bumps in the inflation rate, the rise in food and health prices, the dangerous and unjustified rise rates in the real estate market and the rise in the value of the dollar lead to negative rebounds on the economic side," noting that "the lack of proper control by the state on many economic sectors, work and movement." The commercial real estate market and the commercial exchange with the outside has become uncontrolled and its doors are open to the greed of traders and beneficiaries, and thus the occurrence of these economic turmoil.”

The expert explained that “when there is a major economic crisis in all countries that prepare themselves economically, there is a kind of economic discipline imposed by the state to try to absorb these economic shocks,” noting that “what is happening in Iraq is far from all sound economic approaches and without a fiscal policy. A clear and reliable economic.” https://almaalomah.me/2022/02/01/579952/

butterfly   Billion In Losses For OPEC For The Year $21 2021

ECONOMIC  02/02/2022 | 5:14 PM   New data showed, on Tuesday, that the production losses of the oil-exporting countries (OPEC) amounted to 21 billion dollars in lost revenues in 2021.

And Reuters said in a report translated by the agency "Information", that "data showed that OPEC missed its target to produce oil by more than 800,000 barrels per day on average last year, and lost billions of dollars in revenue and harmed members of the organization who are struggling to collect liquidity for investment."

"According to the data, based on the $70 per barrel price of OPEC's basket of oil, 800,000 barrels per day of lost production is about half of Britain's daily consumption - equivalent to about $21 billion in lost profits for the group in 2021," he added.

And he added, "After record production cuts in 2020, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, which includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies led by Russia, gradually eased its restrictions on oil production as demand recovers from the worst impact of the Corona virus epidemic."

And while others are matching production targets - which have recently risen by 400,000 barrels per day across the group - analysts say spare capacity has dwindled, with spare capacity, production that can be put into operation on short notice, as a vital cushion. To protect the market from any shock, and mitigate price fluctuations and sudden rises.”

On the one hand, analyst Goldman Sachs said in a note, “Standby capacity remains very low, with concerns about the production capacity of Russia, Kuwait and Iraq that those concerns are likely to be realized by the summer, when demand increases seasonally and international travel reopens.”

The report indicated that “OPEC and its allies are expected to abide by the previously agreed plan to increase March production by 400,000 barrels per day when they meet next Wednesday, although two OPEC sources

Economic Last Update 02/02/2022 | 4:51 PM  Economic expert, Muhammad Jamal, confirmed, on Tuesday, that the electrical linkage agreement with Saudi Arabia will have significant economic repercussions on the country.

Jamal told the "Information" agency that "the agreement with Saudi Arabia will exhaust Iraq's economy, as the country produces natural gas, and it can produce electric power by other means."

He added, "This agreement, through which Iraq will lose billions of dollars, is not a blessing or a gift, as some media outlets tried to portray to citizens, and political agendas are behind it, and from an economic point of view it will link the fate of Iraq to crises and major debts."

Political forces reject the electrical connection agreement with Saudi Arabia, because Riyadh has a history of supporting terrorism in Iraq. https://almaalomah.me/2022/02/01/579920/

butterfly   The Framework Announces The Move Towards Collecting Parliamentary Signatures To Change The Dollar Exchange Rate

Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) expects the Shiite Coordination Framework to vote for Hoshyar Zebari as the republic's next president.

Masoud Haidar, the KDP head Masrour Barzani's advisor, said on Twitter, "We expect the Framework to take a positive position and vote for Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency."

Haidar said that the Framework would vote for the KDP member as a response to President Barzani's initiative and the favorable positions of the leader of the Sadrist Movement Muqtada al-Sadr and the efforts of the Sunni component led by Muhammad al-Halbousi and Khamis al-Khanjar.

Earlier, in light of the head of KDP's initiative, a meeting was held among the President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, the Head of Al-Siyada Coalition, Khamis Al-Khanjar, and the leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr.

Leader Barzani said his initiative aimed "to address the problems and prepare a suitable political environment as well as remove the obstacles hindering the political process in Iraq."

butterfly   Tension has been raised between the two main Kurdish parties regarding the Presidency's post.

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) nominated Barham Salih, a decision which was rejected by its rival, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). Instead, the KDP nominated former foreign and finance minister Hoshyar Zebari.

A long-standing agreement among the Kurds usually sees a PUK nominee installed as president, while the KDP is left to run the Kurdistan region.

But the KDP is seeking to adjust the accounts after securing 31 seats in the 329-seat parliament in October's election, while the Kurdistan Alliance, led by the PUK, won only 17 seats. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/The-Shiite-Coordination-Framework-to-vote-for-Hosyar-Zebari-for-the-Iraqi-Presidency-KDP-advisor-says

butterfly   Al-Siyada coalition to receive six ministries in the next government, source says 2022-02-01 12:45

Shafaq News / A source in al-Siyada coalition, revealed today to Shafaq news agency the number of ministries that the coalition will obtain in the new government.

Al-Siyada is the largest Sunni coalition in the Iraqi Parliament with 67 seats, consisting of Takadum movement headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halboosi, and Azm coalition headed by Khamis al-Khanjar.

The source said that al-Siyada will receive six ministries in the new government, which are: the ministries of defense, planning, education, trade, industry, and environment.

The ministries will be distributed on Takadum and Azm, noting that al-Halboosi's coalition will receive the ministries of Defense, planning, and environment, while al-Khanjar's movement will receive the ministries of education, trade, and industry, according to the source, who preferred to remain anonymous.

The legislative body is scheduled to meet on February 8 to vote for the republic's next president, who will assign the candidate of the largest parliamentary bloc to form the new government.

Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr, who once led an anti-US militia and who opposes all foreign interference, has repeatedly said that the next prime minister will be chosen by his movement, and will form a "national majority government".

It won the largest share with 73 out of the assembly’s 329 seats, more than a fifth of the total.

But the Coordination Framework, including pro-Iran groups such as al-Fatah (Conquest) Alliance, the political wing of the pro-Iran ex-paramilitary coalition Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces-PMF), insist on forming a government that includes all Iraqi parties. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/Al-Siyada-coalition-to-receive-eight-ministries-in-the-next-government-source-says

butterfly   Russia responds in writing to US ahead of Blinken-Lavrov call on Ukraine crisis 2022-02-01 01:45

Shafaq News/ The United States has received a written response from Moscow after it sent its own written answers following face-to-face meetings on the ongoing Ukraine crisis, the latest development in the ongoing diplomatic campaign aimed at deterring a potential Russian invasion of the country.

Moscow's response comes days after Washington submitted its own documents to Moscow and ahead of a planned phone call between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Tuesday.

A senior State Department official and a State Department spokesperson confirmed Monday that they "received a written follow-up from Russia."

"It would be unproductive to negotiate in public, so we'll leave it up to Russia if they want to discuss their response," the spokesperson said. "We remain fully committed to dialogue to address these issues and will continue to consult closely with our Allies and partners, including Ukraine."

Public reactions to those US written responses -- in which administration officials said the US voiced willingness to work with Russia on things like arms control but refused to give room on NATO's "open door" policy -- have been largely pessimistic.

It is unclear if Moscow's written response, first reported by the Washington Post, was received before or after Monday's UN Security Council meeting over Moscow's escalation along the border with Ukraine, which ended in a standoff between the US and Russia.

US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield told reporters following the session, in which the US accused Russia of planning to mass tens of thousands of troops along the Belarus-Ukraine border, that the US "called for this meeting to allow the Russians to give us an explanation of what their actions are."

butterfly  "We didn't hear much," she said. "They didn't give us the answers that any of us would have hoped that they would provide."

The open meeting at the UN headquarters in New York proceeded Monday despite opposition from China and Russia.

US officials have repeatedly urged Moscow to take a diplomatic path forward, warning that a renewed invasion of Ukraine would result in swift and significant sanctions -- a message reiterated by President Joe Biden on Monday while the meeting was underway.

Tense UN meeting

In her remarks to the Security Council Monday, Thomas-Greenfield said, "We continue to hope Russia chooses the path of diplomacy over the path of conflict in Ukraine. But we cannot just 'wait and see.' It is crucial that this Council address the risk that their aggressive and destabilizing behavior poses across the globe."

She spoke of Russia's buildup of more than 100,000 troops along its border with Ukraine, as well as US intelligence that Russia has moved nearly 5,000 troops into Belarus and intends to mass "more than 30,000 troops near the Belarus-Ukraine border ... by early February."

"If Russia further invades Ukraine, none of us will be able to say we didn't see it coming. And the consequences will be horrific," Thomas-Greenfield said.

Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzia claimed UN colleagues are "whipping up tensions and rhetoric," saying that the US and others wanted conflict to take place.

butterfly   "This deployment of Russian troops in our own territory is getting our Western and US colleagues to say that there's going to be a planned military action and even an act of aggression ... the military action of Russia against Ukraine that they're all assuring us is going to take place in just a few weeks' time if not a few days' time. There, however, is no proof confirming such a serious accusation whatsoever being put forward," he said in translated remarks at the meeting.

"You are almost calling for this, you want it to happen. You're waiting for it to happen, as if you want to make your words become a reality. This is despite the fact that we are constantly rejecting these allegations and this is despite the fact that no threat of a planned invasion into Ukraine from the lips of any Russian politician or public figure over all of this period has been made," Nebenzia said.

Thomas-Greenfield responded that it was Moscow that was being provocative, not the US or its Security Council partners.

"We have made clear our commitment to the path of diplomacy. I hope our Russian colleagues will also choose this path and engage peacefully with the international community, including Ukraine," she said. Source: CNN

02/01/2022 | 2:01 PM  Haitham al-Jubouri, the former deputy and responsible for the interrogation of former Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari, revealed, on Tuesday, the details of the latter’s dismissal, indicating that more than 300 deputies voted for his dismissal because of their confidence in Zebari’s corruption.

Al-Jubouri said in a televised interview, which was followed by Al-Malluma, that “it is not possible to form a majority government at the expense of parties that have political weight, and that the current majority is exclusionary and numerical only, and there is no clear program for the parties that want to form the government.”

He added that “what is the benefit of the elections if the three presidencies are recycled,” noting that “the candidate for the presidency, Hoshyar Zebari, was voted on by 300 deputies from all components, but the blocs that voted against Zebari are the ones who want him as president of the republic.”

Al-Jubouri indicated that “everyone knew that the current President of the Republic, Barham Salih, is close to the Sadrist movement, and it may be agreed upon at the last minute before entering Parliament regarding the presidency.”   almaalomah.me

butterfly   Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish forces to meet this week, the Framework confirms: all or no one 2022-02-01 04:31

Shafaq News/ An important meeting will be held this week in Baghdad among the Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish forces.  "The meeting will include the leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, or his representative, the head of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi al-Amiri, leaders of the Framework, the head of Takadum, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and representatives of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan." A source in the Shiite Coordination Framework told Shafaq News Agency.

"The meeting will discuss the preparations for electing the president of the republic in the next parliamentary session and choosing "the best personnel to form the next government."

For his part, the leader in the Framework, Saad Al-Saadi, revealed to our Agency the issues discussed during their meeting at the house of the leader of the "Victory" Coalition Haider Al-Abadi, last night.

Al-Saadi said that they discussed the Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani's initiative to resolve the current dispute with the leader of the Sadrist movement and unify the Shiite house.

He stressed, "We welcome any initiative that calls for unifying positions among political forces in general and Shiites in particular."

"The Framework participates with all its political forces in the next government or turns to the opposition. This decision cannot at any time be reversed."

Yesterday, the President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi, and the head of al-Siyada Coalition Khamis al-Khanjar visited the leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, in his headquarters in al-Hanana, North of Najaf, carrying an initiative to resolve the ongoing dispute between the Sadrist and the Coordination Framework.

butterfly   A source told Shafaq News Agency that the "meditators" -in reference to Barzani, al-Halbousi, and al-Khanjar- presented a "Goodwill initiative to rebuild the Shiite home."

"The partners presented a list of suggestions to address the disagreement among the Shiite rivals. However, al-Sadr was adamant about precluding the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki."

"Al-Sadr welcomed all the Shiite leaders but al-Maliki, and expressed willingness to form with them a larger coalition," the source said.

Following the meeting, the populist Shiite cleric said in a press conference that he would continue to pursue forming a national majority government.

Politician  Last Update 01/02/2022 | 2:01 PM   Haitham al-Jubouri, the former deputy and responsible for the interrogation of former Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari, revealed, on Tuesday, the details of the latter’s dismissal, indicating that more than 300 deputies voted for his dismissal because of their confidence in Zebari’s corruption.

Al-Jubouri said in a televised interview, which was followed by Al-Malluma, that "it is not possible to form a majority government at the expense of parties that have political weight, and that the current majority is exclusionary and numerical only, and there is no clear program for the parties that want to form the government."

He added that "what is the benefit of the elections if the three presidencies are recycled," noting that "the candidate for the presidency, Hoshyar Zebari, was voted on by 300 deputies from all components, but the blocs that voted against Zebari are the ones who want him as president of the republic."

Al-Jubouri indicated that "everyone knew that the current President of the Republic, Barham Salih, is close to the Sadrist movement, and it may be agreed upon at the last minute before entering Parliament regarding the presidency." https://almaalomah.me/2022/02/01/579873/

And the representative of the State of Law coalition, Firas Al-Maslmawi, confirmed in a previous statement, that his coalition and a number of members of Parliament within the same direction will not allow the budget to be passed for the current year except after a reduction in the dollar exchange rate against the dinar. https://almaalomah.me/2022/02/01/579838/

butterfly  Two paths to divide Iraq into three regions..!

2022-02-01  Two paths to divide Iraq into three regionsBahaa Khazali || The scenario prepared for Iraq with the acceleration of events in recent times is the process of pushing Iraq towards partition through two tracks…. The first is economic: the impoverishment of the southern governorates according to the plan adopted by the government of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi. The second is security and military: the push towards Shiite-Shiite fighting. With both tracks, we are moving forward towards one result, which is the partition of Iraq. * The first track (impoverishment and starvation):

According to this path, Al-Kazemi’s government deliberately holds economic projects for the southern governorates devoid of any feasibility study. Rather, the feasibility of it is to transfer the resources of the south to the blood type (O+), the general donor to the poor countries of the region and to the Kurdistan region, an example of this is the agreement (Iraq, Egypt, Jordan),

and it refuses Any real project to invest the resources of the south perfectly and be replaced by a fake project such as the school building project that the Al-Kazemi government signed with a Chinese company instead of a group of infrastructure projects and the port of Faw that was supposed to be signed with a Chinese group of companies.

butterfly   These procedures are accompanied by the emergence of two currents, the first supporting Al-Kazemi working to provoke the discontented southern public from confiscating its resources to others, to create a kind of dissatisfaction with the Shiite official and over time this turns into a lack of confidence in the ability of the Shiite politician to run the country, and the other current is the disgruntled public that has lost confidence in its representatives.

He resorts to creating a public opinion of the need to go to a Shiite region to benefit from its resources. Such as the Basra region, which makes this a justification for the Sunnis to demand the Anbar region, as well as a justification for the Kurds to demand secession in the Kurdistan region, thus achieving Biden’s vision of dividing Iraq into three states, the first Sunni, the second Shiite, and the third Kurdish.

* The second track: It has two scenarios. The first scenario: is to push the Shiites to a Shiite Shiite fight, and if that happens, it is used to support one party over another and eliminate it, then the victorious party is liquidated and the rule is returned to a new dictatorial regime subject to the military institution, and the first oppressed in that country will be They are the Shiites, which leads to returning Iraq to Chapter VII, and then the crisis ends with a decision to partition through the United Nations.

butterfly   The second scenario: is to export the idea of Shiite-Shiite fighting and rely on the political behavior of the prudent party of the Shiites not to go to that fighting. Which forces that party to make concessions to the other Shiite party, which in turn will continue to pressure until it reaches the stage of forming a government according to its premises, and implements a pre-prepared program, which is to allow the Sunnis to form their own Sunni region, as well as granting the Kurds an independent region, and since it is he who confronts the government, he will be the one who leads Shiite region and thus the division process.

* The data: • The owner of the project to divide Iraq into regions based on sectarianism at the present time is the same US President Joe Biden.

• The approval of Congress, by a majority of its members, whether Republicans or Democrats, on the decision to divide Iraq.

• Waving the project of the return of ISIS with the demands of Sunni politicians to arm the tribal residents in the Sunni regions and to address any agreed terrorist exposure that may be a justification for the formation of a Sunni force corresponding to the Popular Mobilization, to purge the occupied lands by agreement, which gives them a legitimate argument that they are the protectors of the land and they have the right to self-determination and there is no need The presence of the popular crowd in their provinces.

The movement moved to impose its control over the southern governorates by changing the governors. The support agreed upon between the Sunnis and the Kurds for the Sadrist bloc, and the Sadrist bloc’s exaggerated welcome for that support.

* Conclusion: According to these data, we may witness the implementation of Biden’s project by dividing Iraq into three regions….. 1- Sunni led by al-Halbousi. 2- Kurdish led by Barzani. 3- A Shiite led by the Sadrist bloc.    burathanews.com

The source explained, “The upcoming parliament session, which is scheduled to be devoted to voting on candidates for the position of the presidency, will also witness the nomination of a candidate for the presidency of the Council of Ministers by the Sadrist bloc, in agreement with the main poles of the strategic alliance between (the Sadrist bloc emanating from the Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr and my alliance of progress). And Azm led by Muhammad al-Halbousi, as well as the Democratic Alliance led by Massoud Barzani.

He added, “The Sadrists considered it better to shorten the road and nominate a candidate – he did not name him to obtain the assignment of the President of the Republic – especially after the coordination framework announced his position on the alliance with al-Sadr without the leader of the rule of law, meaning that he refuses to enter with al-Sadr in a majority government without al-Maliki, which determined the The shape of the relationship between the two parties (Al-Hattaar – Al-Sadr), and thus ensuring the completion of the formation of the new government in a quick time, no later than next March.”

He added that “the position of the forces of the coordination framework that adheres to the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, pushed towards accelerating the process of selecting a number of candidates to head the next government and putting them to vote during the next session.”

butterfly   And the source indicated, “The parliament session scheduled to be held next Monday (the seventh of next February) will witness the vote on the President of the Republic, and all the data indicate that the Democratic Party candidate (Hoshyar Zebari) will pass comfortably, according to the agreement between the main political forces (the Sadrist bloc and the Alliance of Progress and Resolve). and chords).

The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Hadi al-Amiri, had earlier demanded that all Iraqi political forces end what he described as political stubbornness and put the country’s interests above all else.

Al-Amiri made it clear, during a meeting with political figures, that he was not against forming a national majority government, but without monopolizing power and excluding others, in reference to Muqtada al-Sadr’s insistence on excluding Nuri al-Maliki from the formation of the next government.

The sources suggested the possibility of the Al-Fateh coalition led by Al-Amiri separating from the coordination framework and joining Al-Sadr, but the former Prime Minister (Al-Maliki), and according to informed sources, demanded from all the leaders of the framework not to disintegrate and cohesion and that if one of them separates, he (Al-Maliki) will abandon him regardless of his political weight. or popular.  shafaq.com

butterfly   Legal talks about the largest bloc: The Federal Court is able to interpret the article again

2022-01-30   Legal talks about the largest bloc - The Federal Court is able to interpret the article againToday, Sunday, legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi revealed the possibility of the Federal Court interpreting the most numerous paragraph in the first session of the House of Representatives.

Al-Tamimi said, in a statement received by Earth News Agency, that “Article 76 first of the constitution confirms that the President of the Republic assigns the candidate of the most numerous parliamentary bloc to form the Council of Ministers, and the Federal Supreme Court has interpreted it by Resolution 25 of 2010 as the bloc that entered the elections with an independent name and number.

The bloc was the most numerous, or the one that coalesced with others,” he continued by saying, “Whichever is more numerous in the first session, it is the one to which the text contained in Article 76 first applies to the constitution.”

He added that “the above decision says the most numerous parliamentary bloc after taking the oath, which is the first session devoted to electing the Speaker and his two deputies. It means that the registration of the most numerous bloc is presented to the head of the age in accordance with Articles 54 and 55 of the Constitution and Article 5 of the Parliament’s internal system and this is the direction of the Federal Court in the decision 25″.

He explained, “The Federal Court can, although its decision is in accordance with Article 94 of the Constitution, but this does not mean final. It is able, according to constitutional jurisprudence, to reinterpret the constitutional text according to political, economic and legal variables, and the development that is taking place is what is stated in Article 45 of the Elections Law 9 of 2020.”   burathanews.com

Shafaq News/ Iraq's Security Media Cell announced that the National Security forces had confirmed that the ISIS “deputy governor of north Baghdad” were killed.

In a statement, the Cell said that the DNA test approved that the body is for Adwan Farhan Jafal, so-called “Sheikh Seif.”

Sheikh Seif was killed by Iraqi airstrikes in Tarmiyah district, along with five other ISIS elements, a week ago.

In 2017, Iraq declared final victory over ISIS after Iraqi forces drove its last remnants from the country, three years after the militant group captured about a third of Iraq's territory.

The war has had a devastating impact on the areas previously controlled by the militants. About 3.2 million people remain displaced.   Yet, ISIS still has sleeper cells in several Iraqi Governorates.

Recently, the terrorist organization has become more active, as sleeper cells target civilians and security forces in several governorates.

The Iraqi forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces launched various operations against ISIS in different locations, which led to the killing and the arrest of many members. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/Iraqi-forces-kill-a-prominent-ISIS-leader

He added, "After parliamentary pressure and pressure through the axis of resistance on the Americans, they were forced to announce their withdrawal from Iraq, but they entered again through the window under the pretext of American advisers to the Iraqi forces," stressing, "America will not and will not withdraw from Iraq unless the Iraqi government is serious about expelling the American forces." “.

Al-Basri pointed out that "its presence today under the cover of advisers remained inside Iraq is nothing but an excuse to stay, and we need popular, parliamentary, governmental and resistance pressure towards the exit of the occupation forces, especially as it has major agendas in the Middle East and major interests that stem from Iraq."

Butterfly   Zebari to win the presidential race, KDP leading figures assert 2022-01-31 09:00

Shafaq News/ Leading figures in the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) cast question marks on the demonstrations protesting the nomination of Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency a few days ahead of the election session.

In a statement to Shafaq News Agency, Showan Mohammad Taha, a KDP leading figure, said, "those demonstrations are not popular. They are organized by political parties. Some of the Demonstrators serve in the presidential guards' brigades. We are aware that they received money to do what they are doing, and we know who paid them as well."

"The Tahrir square is the October martyrs square. Political parties shall keep their political disputes outside this square that played a vital role in changing the political situation."

A group of demonstrators gathered near the heavily fortified Green Zone, downtown the Iraqi capital Baghdad, to express their discontent with Zebari's candidature to the position.

For his part, Bengen Rekani, a representative of the KDP in the Kurdish delegation negotiating for the government formation, said, "more than 200 MPs will vote for Zebari according to the agreements with the KDP allies, the Sadrist movement, and the Sunni leading forces."

"Except for the political aspect, many of the Coordination Framework forces believe that Zebari has the political expertise and tolerance of different political parties to hold the position."

butterfly   Iraqi parliament will hold a vote to determine who will succeed the incumbent President of the Republic, Barham Salih, on February 7th.

Endorsed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Salih will be running for a second term in office.

Talks between the PUK and KDP collapsed with the two leading Kurdish parties engaged in a strained war of words heated with reciprocal recriminations.

butterfly   It is worth noting that on February 7, the Iraqi representatives will vote in the Parliament for the next President.

The two main Kurdish parties are neck to neck as the elections approaches.

Earlier, KDP said that the Presidency position is entitlement of the Kurdish component, not a party itself.

While the PUK insists upon naming Barham Salih for a second mandate, its rival (Kurdistan Democratic Party-KDP) does not agree that it has "adequately discharged" the role of President and named Hoshyar Zebari as its candidate for the position.

Per the power-sharing formula between the two leading Kurdish parties, the President of the Republic was usually named by the PUK. However, this might change in light of the parliamentary election results that showed the KDP winning 31 seats, compared to the PUK's 17. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/Iraqi-Parliament-publishes-the-list-of-candidates-for-the-Presidency

Director of the Office of Supervision Department at the Central Bank of Kuwait, Muhammad Al-Khamis, said that the deadline for receiving applications for establishing digital banks continues until June 30, indicating that the announcement of applications that meet the conditions will be by the end of 2022.

Al-Khamis confirmed, in a video broadcast by the Central Bank of Kuwait on YouTube, that the bank has finished setting up a framework for digital banking “with the aim of stimulating innovation.”

He pointed out that this framework allows the provision of digital banking services according to 3 models of digital banking:

The first is digital services provided by existing banks through a banking unit within the bank.

The second model is “Banking as a Service”, which is a model based on a partnership between an existing bank and a digital institution that forms the front end in terms of customer relationship management and marketing activities, while the responsibilities of operations fall on the bank itself.

The third model is the fully independent digital banking model.   Source: Reuters

butterfly   Pro-Iranian forces protest against Zebari's candidacy for the presidency of Iraq

BAGHDAD - Hundreds of supporters of the coordinating framework forces loyal to Iran demonstrated on Monday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to reject the candidacy of the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Hoshyar Zebari, for the position of President of the Republic.

Supporters of the coordination framework (which includes Shiite political forces) went out to demonstrate in "Nour Square" west of Baghdad, rejecting Zebari's candidacy for the post of president.

Witnesses explained that the demonstrators raised banners that read, “We do not want advocates of secession,” and another that read, “Khan al-Amanah does not suit him luxury,” in reference to Zebari’s support for the referendum on the secession of the Kurdistan region from Iraq in 2017.

The forces support the coordination framework that includes coalitions of the rule of law Al-Fateh, Al-Nasr and other Shiite political forces, Barham Salih assumed the position of President of the Republic for a second term.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Masoud Barzani, announced the candidacy of Zebari for the post of president, while the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan announced last week its nomination of Barham Salih for the post.

The two candidates are the most prominent candidates to win the position, especially since the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan has maintained the position of president since 2006, while the share of the Kurdistan Democratic Party during the last period was one of the sovereign ministries, either finance or foreign affairs.

butterfly   Last week, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan criticized the KDP's abandonment of an agreement concluded between the two parties years ago, which stipulated that a candidate from the PUK would assume the presidency, with the Kurdistan Democratic Party taking one of the sovereign ministerial positions in the federal government.

Since 2006, the political custom in Iraq has been for the Kurds to hold the presidency, the Shiites to be the prime minister, and the Sunnis to head the parliament.

During its first session, on January 9, the parliament elected Muhammad al-Halbousi to head the council for a second term after obtaining the confidence of 200 deputies, compared to 14 votes for his rival, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.

Shiite political forces are holding continuous dialogues for the purpose of agreeing on a personal nomination for the post of prime minister.

Al-Halbousi confirmed that a Kurdish-Sunni-Shiite movement began to form a purely national government, considering that "the time of foreign interventions in forming governments is over."

Al-Halbousi, who leads the "Progress" coalition (37 seats out of 329 in Parliament), wrote a tweet in which he stated that "the time of foreign interventions in the formation of Iraqi governments is over."

butterfly   He added, "Today, the mountains of Iraq (majority Kurdish areas) and deserts (majority Sunni areas) are moving to Najaf al-Ashraf for the talks of a purely national Iraqi government, neither eastern nor western.

The term neither eastern is used to refer to Iran, nor western is used to refer to the United States of America.

And last week, the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ismail Qaani, visited Iraq and met with Shiite political leaders, in an effort to bridge the views between the leader of the Sadrist movement and the leaders of the coordination framework.

But the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, renewed, on Monday, his adherence to the formation of a national government in Iraq, welcoming dialogue with opponents of that.

Al-Sadr said in a tweet via “Twitter” after his meeting with Al-Halbousi and the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, in the Najaf Governorate (south). "Stop terrorism and violence against the people and partners, so we are still with the formation of a national majority government."

"We welcome dialogue with the national opposition (Shiite political forces that refuse to form a national majority government)," he added.

Al-Sadr met with Al-Halbousi and Barzani, as part of an initiative by the leader of the "Kurdistan Democratic Party" Massoud Barzani, with the aim of ending the political crisis in the country.

The Sadrist bloc topped the elections that took place on October 10, with 73 seats (out of 329 in Parliament), followed by Progress coalition 37, State of Law coalition 33, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party 31. https://rawabetcenter.com/archives/141723

butterfly   The 91st minute agreement “...handing over nuclear weapons in exchange for removing military enclaves  ---  Upon entering the White House about a year ago, President Joe Biden made renewing the nuclear agreement with Iran a top priority for his administration. His spokesmen made it clear that he needed an agreement that would remove the Iranian issue from the agenda, at least for the time being, so that he and his administration could devote themselves to addressing issues important to Washington, foremost of which is the rivalry with China in the Far East.

The Iranian regime also appears enthusiastic, albeit much less than Biden, as it should be admitted, to reach a renewed and improved nuclear agreement that would lead to the lifting of economic sanctions, and allow for stability and the strengthening of its position at home.

However, despite these starting conditions, during the last year, no breakthrough was achieved on the road, and negotiations dragged on and extended and witnessed crises that were thought to have kept Washington away from Tehran. In fact, it was the Iranians who created one crisis after another, and even halted the talks as if they had no interest or desire to achieve a renewed agreement. As for Washington, for its part, it found itself being drawn into and hesitantly responding to Iran's steps and provocations.

butterfly   At one point, a month or two ago, it was thought that the Americans had given up, and that the possibility of reaching an agreement had been eliminated. Indeed, statements heard in Washington state that all options are open and on the table, a particularly emphatic and implausible hint of the possibility of a military attack.

However, with a magic wand, and in light of the escalating tension between Washington and Beijing, and Moscow as well, which opened a new front in Ukraine against the United States - talks have resumed, and Iranian and American spokesmen are predicting an imminent breakthrough that will lead the two sides to the desired agreement. Even Iran's leader, Ali Khamenei, gave the green light to the agreement when he declared that "talks, and also the agreement, with the enemy do not mean Iran's surrender."

The negotiators seem to deserve a Nobel Prize, but not for peace but for a distinguished play. After all, the Iranians need to come to terms with their need for air to breathe, far more than they are willing to admit. However, they succeed in proving indifference, as if the whole matter did not concern them. As for the Americans, on the other hand, they broadcast hesitation, weakness, and basically enthusiasm for achieving an agreement at all costs.

The Iranians are artists in negotiations, and they work according to the principle that the agreement should be signed in the 91st minute and not a single moment before that, and this is what most likely will happen.

There is no need to be overly excited by the two sides' threats and the atmosphere of the crisis, which they sometimes bother to broadcast. The parameters of the agreement were decided on the day Biden entered the White House, and since then the Iranians have improved them, and they are in a more advanced position than they were a year ago in everything related to their nuclear project.

butterfly   It seems that it is an agreement that will not be possible to prevent or improve its terms, and thus Iran will remain a touch away from a nuclear bomb under the auspices of the agreement. But what can be done is to intensify the fight against it throughout the Middle East, in Syria and Iraq, and now also in Yemen. This is a struggle that is succeeding, especially in Syria, that enjoys regional and international support, and that can be won.   https://rawabetcenter.com/archives/141716

butterfly   Iraq: Disagreements reach representatives of the civil movement... The names of the presidential candidates will be announced today

Political differences began to deepen after the first parliamentary session, which took place on January 9, and led to the election of a new Presidency for Parliament. While the Shiite forces are fighting to resolve the “largest bloc” and choose a prime minister and a new government cabinet, and in light of the Kurds’ controversy over the eligibility of the position of the President of the Republic, a new dispute emerged within the “independent” political forces, most notably the “Extension” movement that emerged from the October protest movement.

The story began after the movement’s leader, Ghassan Al-Shabib, head of “Extension” accused the prominent activist Alaa Al-Rikabi, along with 6 of the bloc’s deputies, of voting in favor of Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in the session to choose the parliament speaker, which prompted Al-Shabib to resign so as not to be part of an alliance “It includes the killers of the Tishreen revolutionaries,” he said.

Al-Shabib said in a press statement: "I end my organizational career with the extension movement (9 parliamentary seats), and I resign from all my positions in it, and I no longer represent it, nor does it represent me."

He added, "It is not an honor or fitting for me as a protester and one of the sons of the great October Revolution to be a leader or a member of a movement whose Secretary-General and six other members voted with him to elect al-Halbousi as Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament." As a result, the head of the “Extension” parliamentary bloc, Muhammad Nouri, responded yesterday to the accusations leveled against them regarding their support for Al-Halbousi, who won the position of Speaker of Parliament, describing it as a “malicious campaign” that wants to undermine the confidence of voters in the movement.

butterfly   He said in a press statement, "We promised the people and our martyrs that we will not waste their blood, and we will remain on the covenant."

In addition, the House of Representatives is scheduled to announce, today, Monday, the names of the candidates for the post of President of the Republic.   https://rawabetcenter.com/archives/141713

2022-01-30 | 10:00 08 views   Authorities in Long Island, New York, have charged two nurses with falsifying coronavirus vaccination cards and tampering with the state's database, in a fraud in which they allegedly collected more than 1.5 million dollars.

On Friday, CNBC, the US attorney general for Suffolk County issued an arrest warrant for Julie DeVono, 49, owner and operator of a pediatric center and employee Marisa Oraro, 44, after receiving a complaint.

Butterfly   Iraqi bank releases frozen Iranian assets 2022-01-29 07:47

Shafaq News/ Tehran gained access to Iranian assets frozen in the state-owned "Trade Bank of Iraq", the head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), Alireza Peymanpak, revealed on Saturday.

US sanctions have prevented Iran from accessing tens of billions of its assets in foreign banks. Iranian frozen assets in Iraq amount to more than $6 billion, according to Iranian officials.

Under US sanctions, Iraq pays the money for gas bought from Iran to an account at the Trade Bank of Iraq, which Tehran is only allowed to use to buy humanitarian goods from Iraq itself.

"The Trade Promotion Organization of Iran has also called for a priority list of the imported products financed by the recently-released currency resources, urging that the items subject to sanctions should be excluded from the list," Iran's Tasnim news said.

Last May, Iraq agreed to transfer $125 million of frozen Iranian funds to a European bank for the purchase of 16 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Earlier this month, South Korea's deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong-kun held talks in Vienna with Iran and world powers over how to resolve the issue of frozen Iranian assets held in the Asian country.

While holding talks with world powers in Vienna to revive its 2015 nuclear accord, Tehran has demanded the release of $20 billion of its oil revenue it says has been frozen in countries such as Iraq, South Korea and China due to U.S. sanctions since 2018. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Economy/Iraqi-bank-releases-frozen-Iranian-assets

butterfly   New Generation: will vote to the presidential candidate of the party pledging services to people 2022-01-29 05:03

Shafaq News/ The head of the New Generation (al-Jeel al-Jadeed) bloc, Shaswar Abdul-Wahed, on Saturday said that his bloc will vote for the presidential candidate of the party that pledges to provide services to the citizens of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

"The New Generation Movement, and our allies in the Emtidad (Extension) movement, along with independent brothers and sisters in the parliament, will grant our votes to the political party that provides services to the citizens," Abdul-Wahed said in a press conference, "the coalition will hold a meeting to decide."

The Iraqi parliament will hold a vote to determine who will succeed the incumbent President of the Republic, Barham Salih, on February 7th.

Endorsed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Salih will be running for a second term in office.

However, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), who secured 31 seats in the recent parliamentary election-well ahead of the PUK's 18, has put forth the name of Hoshyar Zebari, a member of the KDP's Politburo and Iraq's former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Talks between the PUK and KDP collapsed with the two leading Kurdish parties engaging in a strained war of words marred with reciprocal recriminations.

A few days after lifting their suspension following an order by Iraq's supreme court, the Parliament Speaker, Mohammad al-Halboosi, and his deputies convened earlier today to deliberate the procedures related to nominating and electing the next president.

A statement issued afterward said that the parliament presidium will announce a list of eligible candidates on January 31st. https://www.shafaq.com/en/Iraq-News/New-Generation-will-vote-to-the-presidential-candidate-of-the-party-pledging-services-to-people

butterfly    An Expert Offers “Solutions” To Address High Inflation And Warns Of A Sudden Economic “Explosion.”

Economic  Last Update 01/29/2022 | 6:02 PM  The economist, Manar Al-Obaidi, presented, on Saturday, a set of solutions to control the high rates of inflation in Iraq, warning against adopting quick ways to address the problem that may lead to a sudden explosion of the economic situation.

Al-Obaidi said in a Facebook post seen by / the information / that “measuring the level of price increases for each item or service is done after measuring the level of its impact on the citizen. Housing and rent, whose importance is 17%, then housing, whose relative importance to the citizen is about 15%, and the rest of the sectors come in succession.

He added, "Inflation rates in Iraq rose in many important sectors, including those that are of great importance, such as the food sector, and sectors that rose significantly, such as the health sector and the electricity and water sector."

He pointed out that "the solution to the inflation problem must be done by knowing the defect and the reason for the rise in prices in each sector and trying to provide the right alternative that contributes to reducing inflation rates for this sector."

Al-Obaidi pointed out that “the food sector plays an important role in the process of high rates of inflation because of its great relative importance. Therefore, in the first place, we must work to achieve food security by adopting agricultural and industrial projects for agricultural production and similar industries such as canning and storage that contribute to alleviating the rise in global prices and provide Iraq has food security away from external influences and away from the impact of the exchange rate.”

butterfly     He cautioned that “the transport sector also suffers from a rise in prices, and its relative importance represents about 15%, and to reduce inflation rates in transport prices, projects for internal transport and the governorates must be adopted,” noting that “the health sector, other goods and services and electricity supply are among the most high sectors, as they increased in rates. More than 30% and these percentages require vigorous intervention from various parties to reduce them.”

And regarding raising the value of the dinar, the economist saw that this “will lead to the depletion of the reserves of the Iraqi state as a result of the high bill for the operational expenses of the Iraqi state.”

He believed that "it is better to invest the surplus funds of the Iraqi state and the reserves of the Central Bank of Iraq by establishing initiatives that work on establishing various projects that will contribute to reducing inflation rates, and also contribute to creating real productive job opportunities and distance us from the social welfare state that we live in today, especially with the high unemployment rates that have turned From a problem to a real disaster, it rises annually, with more than 500,000 people entering the labor market annually.”

He stressed that "investment is not made only in industrial and agricultural projects and infrastructure, but should include investment in education, as human capital is one of the factors affecting the high unemployment rates," calling for "the development of real strategies for implementing education projects that raise the head rate." Human money that will contribute to a significant reduction in unemployment rates.”

butterfly   He considered that "these solutions require the existence of a real vision of the Iraqi state and a clear and strong will to implement this vision. As for quick solutions and reactive solutions, they will not contribute to solving the problem, but will work to postpone it and cover it with a weak cover that may explode at any moment." https://almaalomah.me/2022/01/29/579376/

Politician Last Update 01/29/2022 | 6:13 PM  On Saturday, the coordination framework expressed its fears of the Federal Court's decision to isolate the issue of the largest bloc from the legitimacy of the first session of Parliament.

Member of the framework, Fadel Mawat, said in a statement to the "Information" agency, "The court's decision to legalize the first session of Parliament with all its outcomes means that the framework is the largest bloc, as it submitted a paper with the signatures of more than 88 deputies to the age before everyone else."

He added that "the Federal Court's decision came for the second time in favor of the Sadrist bloc and Al-Halbousi," noting that "the legalization of the first session with all its outcomes means that the largest bloc has been approved as it is among the outcomes of the first session."

And he indicated that "isolating the largest bloc from the legitimacy of the first session indicates the existence of an abnormal matter on the horizon."

It is noteworthy that the coordination framework presented during the first parliament session 88 seats compared to 73 seats for the Sadrist bloc, but because of the events that followed the first session, the issue of the largest bloc in the parliament was not resolved. https://almaalomah.me/2022/01/29/579384/
