Iraq Announces The Total Oil Revenues Achieved Within A Month

Haider Sahar Al-Husseinawi, Director General of the Ur Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, said in an interview with (Al-Mada), that "the company's management was forced to sue the Ministry of Oil (the General Company for Oil Projects) before the Nasiriyah Investigation Court after its reluctance to pay the financial dues, not to mention the late fines."

Al-Husseinawi added, "The total debts of the company owed by the Ministry of Oil amount to two billion and 350 million dinars under a contract concluded in 2020."

Al-Husseinawi believes that “this is a negative and dangerous indicator that is not in the interest of the national industry.”

He stressed, "The failure to pay debts to the company would impede financing the purchase of raw materials entering the production process, and thus negatively affect the pace of work and production."

At the same time, Al-Husseinawi praised the Ministries of Communications and Defense in the field of paying the dues of the supply contracts concluded with them, stressing that "the problem of non-payment of debts is represented by the two richest Iraqi ministries, which are oil and electricity."

He waved “to sue the reluctant ministries to pay debts and open their files to the Integrity Commission, especially files related to deals concluded with the private sector,” calling for “auditing contracts between ministries departments and private sector companies that enjoy support at the expense of the public sector.”

Al-Husseinawi stressed, "The ministries departments pay in cash to private sector companies, while they are late and procrastinate in paying public sector companies, including Ur Company."[/size]

And he spoke, of “circumvention in some departments of the ministries on the instructions of the Council of Ministers to support the national product by dealing with public sector companies,” hinting at “the existence of suspicions of corruption by insisting on dealing with private sector companies, some of which are owned by government officials.”

Al-Husseinawi attributed the reasons for the lack of cooperation of some government departments with public sector companies to the fact that “public sector companies do not pay commissions to those responsible for concluding supply contracts, while private sector companies are able to do so.”

Al-Husseinawi stated, "The company's total monthly sales of cables, wires, sections and aluminum sheets range between two billion and two billion and 500 million dinars."

CandyKisses:  Oil prices are falling amid the rise of the dollar and economic concerns

Oil prices fell in early Asian trading, today, Thursday, as the dollar's strength and economic problems overshadowed optimism about consumer demand

Brent crude futures fell 59 cents, or 0.7%, to $88.73 a barrel, while US crude futures fell 54 cents, or 0.7%, to $81.59, according to "Reuters". The two benchmark crudes witnessed a rise in the previous two sessions amid trading volatility, after they reached their lowest level in nine months this week.

The dollar value index witnessed an upward trend this morning, after hitting a new two-decade high against a basket of currencies on Wednesday before retreating. A strong dollar reduces the demand for oil by making it more expensive for buyers who use other currencies.

The Bank of England said it was committed to buying as many long-term government bonds, known as gold bonds, as needed between Wednesday and October 14 to stabilize its currency after the British government's budget plans announced last week caused the pound to fall.

Goldman Sachs lowered its 2023 oil price forecast on Tuesday, due to expectations of weak demand and a stronger US dollar, but said the global disappointment with supplies bolstered its outlook for the long-term upside.

The Central Bank of Iraq announced, on Thursday, the achievement of the largest reserve in its history, with a number exceeding 87 billion dollars.

The Central Bank adviser, Ihsan Shamran al-Yasiri, told the official news agency, "The Central Bank's reserves exceeded 87 billion dollars, which is the largest number that the Central Bank of Iraq's reserves reach."

He pointed out that "the Iraqi currency is very strong because the reserves constitute 130 percent of the source of circulation from the funds in banks and others, in addition to its function to meet the requirements of traders to import goods."

He explained, "The reserve is not an absolute number for the economy's recovery, as it previously reached 40 billion, and the economy was recovering, as the lesson is in the financial guidance and financial discipline that the state contributes to making." 

He pointed out that "every uncontrolled government spending indirectly affects and decreases the reserve," expressing his hope that "the reserve will exceed $100 billion."  LINK

Wednesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed that 300,000 employees received more than one salary, while the introduction of a currency of 20 thousand dinars was considered a positive step

Member of the committee, Representative Jamal Cougar, said in a television interview that "salaries will not stop because there is no budget," noting that "salaries amount to 70 trillion dinars, and this is in violation of international standards

Cougar added, "We need 10 billion dollars a month to secure expenses," noting that "300,000 employees receive more than one salary. He explained, "Some employees receive 5 salaries

Samson:  Ports announce the completion of their electronic procedures for exempted goods

On Thursday, the Border Ports Authority announced the completion of its electronic procedures for exempted goods.

The authority said in a statement, that "under the direct guidance and supervision of the head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Al-Waeli, the technical cadres completed the completion of the last link of the electronic link of the exempted goods program at the customs center of the ports: (Shalamjah port, Safwan port, Umm Qasr North port, The middle port of Umm Qasr, the southern port of Umm Qasr, the port of Abu Flous port).

She added, "This came in cooperation with the General Authority of Customs / Southern Region and the General Directorate of Industrial Development," noting that "this is a qualitative transition from routine paper work to electronic work to facilitate data access and eliminate fraud and manipulation of quantities and descriptions of exempt goods."

Samson:  Economist: Going to print a currency of 20 thousand dinars will cost Iraq a lot of money

29th September, 2022

The economic affairs specialist, Muhammad Al-Saadi, considered, on Thursday, the Central Bank's intention to introduce a new currency in the category of twenty thousand dinars, as a futile economic step, and it will cost the country a lot of money.

Al-Saadi told Al-Maalouma, "Proceeding with the printing of a currency of 20 thousand dinars will cost the state great money, as printing money by the Central Bank is an economically complex technical process."

He added, "Every printed monetary unit must have a balance of foreign exchange reserves, a balance of gold, or real goods and services that were produced in society."

Al-Saadi indicated that "the money circulating in the market has a real value and is not just printed papers," noting that most developing countries usually bypass these rules, and money is printed at rates that exceed the permissible, which leads to high inflation rates.

MilitiaMan:  There has already been allocations of large sums of money to print new currency issuance and it has been recorded and expensed by the CBI in 2018 era.

At this juncture in time, there is no reason to print something that has no real effective utility, imo.. They already have 100k and 50 k notes for internal use for large transactions.

WE have been told over and over that the CBI has upwards of 90 -145 billion in $ reserves and over 130 tonnes of gold. The border income may match or exceed Iraq's oil revenues. Add in the Natural Gas deals? You get the picture.

The new notes expected will be supported by all that aforementioned and the private sector once the re construction process begins.

 Lets see what the GOI does, as we know what the CBI is about to do, or they wouldn't be talking about deleting the three zeros from the exchange rate now would they? imo.. ~ MM

Al-Mandalawi and Al-Maliki discuss the political, security and economic conditions

The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, discussed today, Thursday, with the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, the political, security and economic conditions.

 Al-Maliki's office said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that the latter "received in his office today, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Ali Akbar Al-Mandalawi, as they discussed the political, security and economic developments in the country." 

Al-Maliki stressed, "the need for the legislative authority to restore its oversight role and work to legislate laws that affect citizens' service and living lives, and other laws that enhance the work and integration of state institutions." LINK

MilitiaMan:  My view on these two articles are telling. One where the new FDS (First Deputy Speaker) of the HOR (House of Representatives) has apparently his first meeting, and it is with Maliki..

Then we we see just after the one where Al-Sadr resignation is again in the forefront.

Lets not forget the 2019 uprising in October anniversary is just about upon us again. Sadr has indicated there could be massive demonstrations. Also he suggested post the Al-Hanana meeting that if the politicians take the same past roadmap, he will come for them..

I suspect, the street will be watching closely to Al-Sadr after all the missiles that have been flying around and killing people.. Al-Mandalawi imo may want to be careful, very careful going forward in his new position for the people.. imo ~ MM

MZ: This is even on CNN. “The bond market is crumbling. That’s bad for wall street and main street” This is what I was told would be the number one sign when it inverts and crumbles….then explodes. This is when we get our reset.

MZ: Yesterday we saw another important part. “Bank of England to buy 65 billion pounds of UK bonds to stem rout”  it has not worked. We are watching the same thing occur in economies all around the world…as the US dollar strengthens…they crumble. This forces the commodity prices to go through the roof.. which causes a melt-up. The US economy is next.

MZ: In Germany- inflation is the highest there since WW2.

Advanced Completion Rates For A Vital Project In Anbar

Posted On2022-09-28 By Sotaliraq   Yesterday, Tuesday, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities announced the completion of 91% of the Al-Baghdadi Water Project in Anbar.

And the ministry’s media center said in a statement received by (Al-Mada), that “the ministry has completed 91% of the work of the Al-Baghdadi Water Project in Anbar Governorate, with a capacity of 3000 m3 / hour.”

The statement added, "The project will contribute to the provision of drinking water in the areas of Al-Baghdadi and the surrounding villages within the projects of the ministry's investment plan.

He pointed out that "the current works include extending the transmission lines in the Jubbah and Dulab area, and the implementation of 12 km out of 22 km of the project's conveying line."

The statement went on, "The works also include the installation of push and pull pumps on the Euphrates River and the completion of the remaining finishing works for all the buildings of the project, as well as initiating the process of filling the three sedimentation basins / with a capacity of 1000 m3 / hour for each basin in preparation for the technical examination process for it."

The Governor of Anbar, Ali Farhan, had previously spoken about the details of the province's plan for the reconstruction of western roads, while specifying the percentage of completion of the industrial zone.

Farhan said, "What is happening regarding the reconstruction of Anbar is a great development for the country," noting that "Anbar differed from other provinces because of the vision that was set for the province and proper planning."

He added, "One of the most prominent projects in the governorate is the industrial zone, which is called the customs zones or the free zone," noting that "the completion rate of the industrial zone in the governorate has reached 70%."

Concerning the rehabilitation projects of the governorate’s roads, Farhan said, “The projects to rehabilitate western roads are carried out in the form of sections, as the distance of 160 km has been transformed into 20 sections, in addition to the fact that the road from Haditha to Anah has also been transformed into 20 sections, and therefore there are more From 40 companies rehabilitating the 300 km international road,” noting that “the projects are going according to what was planned and according to a timetable.”   LINK

11 Independent Deputies Refuse To Attend The Parliament Session To Vote On Al-Halbousi's Resignation

Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - Eleven independent deputies abstained from attending the Iraqi parliament session scheduled to be held today, Wednesday, to vote on the resignation of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi.

The deputies said in a statement to them: "We announce to our honorable people our refusal to attend the parliament session on Wednesday, and our rejection of the consensus and quotas approach, and we will not be part of the current conflict."

The parliament's decision to refuse to attend the session came, according to the statement, "to give the opportunity to form a strong independent government far from leading the country to safety and initiating real change."

Al-Halbousi confirms that the decision to resign from the presidency of the parliament "was intrigued by the new parliament," noting that "he did not discuss the decision with the leaders of the political blocs."
