Keep and Pass On to Family and Friends

 From Raleigh NC Northwest Police Department Please remember your home security during the holiday season. Remember to call 911 to report suspicious people and vehicles. Refresh yourself with the following tips for preventing a break-in to your home. 

 Residential Burglary Prevention Tips 

 1. Make your home look like someone is at home (i.e. leave interior lights on, burn exterior lights, install motion lights, leave radio/TV playing, park an extra car in driveway) 

2. Install quality dead-bolt locks with a one-inch throw bolt on entry doors and double cylinder dead-bolt locks for doors that have glass within 40 inches of locking hardware. ALWAYS keep the key for double cylinder dead-bolt locks in close proximity to the door, and always in the same place, so that it will be there in the event of escaping during a fire. 

3. Install a heavy-duty 4-screw strike plate, with 3-inch screws to penetrate into the 2x4 rough framing, not into the trim wood. 

4. Install solid-core wood, fiberglass, or metal exterior doors. 

5. On sliding glass doors, use a wooden dowel, or a track blocker to prevent opening. 

6. Use alarm decals, beware of dog decals, and/or community watch decals near doors.

7. LOCK EXTERIOR DOORS AND WINDOWS 

8. Replace broken locks on windows 

9. If you drill holes in window sashes for pins, ALWAYS remember that this presents a hazard for escaping quickly in the event of a fire, especially for children and the elderly. 

10. Cover windows with blinds or curtains. 

11. Don’t hide your house key in close proximity to entry doors. 

12. Mark valuables with your driver’s license number, using an engraving tool, take photos of valuables that would be defaced if marked. 

13. Find GOOD hiding places in your home for high-ticket items, especially jewelry. Jewelry boxes make things quick and easy for the burglar. Don’t use the typical places like under mattresses, in drawers, in desks/file cabinets, etc. 

14. Secure guns in safes that are bolted to the floor or are large enough that someone could not move without a lot of help. 

15. Limit the amount of cash kept in the home and store it in a creative hiding place. 

16. Get a dog. They can be scary and they draw attention by barking. 

17. Establish a relationship with your neighbors, so that they will keep an eye on your home, especially if going out of town. Encourage neighbors to call the police if they see suspicious activity around your property. Give them contact numbers for reaching you. 

18. Start a community watch group in your neighborhood. 

19. If out of town, have your neighbor collect your mail, newspaper, packages; leave radio and lights on automatic timer, etc. 

20. Report suspicious people, door-to-door solicitation, strange vehicles in area, people asking for work, anyone with stories that don’t add-up, and anyone carrying items from someone’s home, or carrying back-packs, bags in the area. 

21. Consider an alarm system or video surveillance system. 

22. Do not advertise your travel plans on social media. 

23. Be careful of who you invite into your home. Know them.

Remember, the idea of a "Fully seated government" was always just guru stuff to hand another carrot out for their followers. IMO, this never was a problem. It just wasn't time for OH, so many reasons. You all are fine.

Why Countries Peg Their Currency to the Dollar

A dollar peg is when a country maintains its currency's value at a fixed exchange rate to the U.S. dollar. The country's central bank controls the value of its currency so that it rises and falls along with the dollar. The dollar's value fluctuates because it’s on a floating exchange rate.

There are at least 66 countries that either peg their currency to the dollar or use the dollar as their own legal tender. The dollar is so popular because it's the world's reserve currency. World leaders gave it that status at the 1944 Bretton Woods Agreement.

The runner-up is the euro. Twenty-five countries peg their currency to it. The 17 eurozone members use it as their currency.

How It Works

A dollar peg uses a fixed exchange rate. The country's central bank promises it will give you a fixed amount of its currency in return for a U.S. dollar. To maintain this peg, the country must have lots of dollars on hand.

As a result, most of the countries that peg their currencies to the dollar have a lot of exports to the United States. Their companies receive lots of dollar payments. They exchange the dollars for local currency to pay their workers and domestic suppliers.

Central banks use the dollars to purchase U.S. Treasurys. They do this to receive interest on their dollar holdings. If they need to raise cash to pay their companies, it’s easy to sell Treasurys on the secondary market.

A country's central bank will monitor its currency exchange rate relative to the dollar's value. If the currency falls below the peg, it needs to raise its value and lower the dollar's value. It does this by selling Treasurys on the secondary market. That gives the bank cash to purchase local currency.

By adding to the supply of Treasurys, their value drops, along with the value of the dollar. Reducing the supply of local currency raising its value. The peg is restored. 

Keeping the currencies equal is difficult since the dollar's value changes constantly. That's why some countries peg their currency's value to a dollar range instead of the exact number.

Example of a Fixed Exchange Rate

China uses a fixed exchange rate. It prefers to keep its currency low to make its exports more competitive. In fact, every country tries to do this, but few have China's ability to keep it fixed.

China's currency power comes from its exports to America. The exports are mostly consumer electronics, clothing, and machinery. In addition, many U.S.-based companies send raw materials to Chinese factories for cheap assembly. The finished goods become imports when they are shipped back to the United States.

Chinese companies receive American dollars as payment for their exports. They deposit the dollars into their banks in exchange for yuan to pay their workers. Banks send the dollars to China's central bank, which stockpiles them in its foreign currency reserves. This reduces the supply of dollars available for trade. That puts upward pressure on the dollar.

The President of the Republic, during a television broadcast today, that the Prime Minister agreed to submit his resignation, demanding the blocks to choose the appropriate alternative.

President Saleh added that corruption files were referred to the judiciary.

President Saleh revealed that a national dialogue is underway in the presidency to discuss the structural imbalances in the system of government, in accordance with the constitutional and democratic contexts, and works to achieve the demand of Iraqis in the rule of Rashid.

Iraq has witnessed several demonstrations in various cities during the month, demanding the elimination of corruption and the provision of employment opportunities, which resulted in the occurrence of many martyrs.

On the outskirts of a small Panhandle town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out  of sight, and began dividing the nuts.  “One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me,”  said one boy. Several of the nuts dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

As they were dividing the nuts, another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. chattels   If Abdul Mahdi does step down, the president would take over as prime minister and the government would give way to a caretaker government. It’s also possible that parliament could remove Abdul Mahdi if one-fifth of members call for a vote of no confidence and then the vote is approved by a majority.

In either case, in the prime minister's absence the president would then charge the nominee of the largest parliamentary bloc with forming a new government.

 If the parliament failed to form a new government, it can dissolve itself with majority vote and the current government would turn to a caretaker government and it would have to organize new elections in 60 days. Parliament could also withdraw confidence from the prime minister based on a request from the president.

Economy News - Baghdad:  Iraq's economy is slowly recovering in 2019, the World Bank announced.

"In the first half of 2019, GDP grew by 4.8% compared to the previous year, leading to a reverse shift in the contraction of the economy over the past two years," the World Bank said in a report on Iraq, seen by Economy News.

"This growth is the result of an increase in crude oil production (up to 6.3% so far) and a 5.6% recovery in non-oil economic activity in the first half of 2019 compared to last year," he said.

"The recent recovery is due to improved rainfall levels, the production of record agricultural crops, an improvement in electricity production and an expansionary fiscal policy associated with increased wage and public consumption bills," he said.

"Such positive developments are expected to raise real GDP growth to an estimated 4.6% by the end of the year," he said.

The World Bank announced that the Iraqi economy is slowly recovering in 2019

"In the first half of 2019, GDP grew by 4.8% compared to the previous year, which led to a reversal in the contraction of the economy over the past two years," the World Bank said in a report on Iraq seen by the Economy News

He added that this growth comes as a result of the increase in crude oil production (up to 6.3% so far) and the recovery in non-oil economic activity, an increase of 5.6% in the first half of 2019 compared to last year

He stressed that "the recent recovery is due to improved levels of rainfall and the production of record agricultural crops and improved electricity production and expansionary fiscal policy linked to increased wage bill and public consumption

"Such positive developments are expected to raise real GDP growth to an estimated 4.6% by the end of the year," he said

He pointed out that "the Iraqi economy outperformed its counterparts in the region this year, but the dynamics of the population requires much higher growth to maintain the current level of prosperity   LINK

US oil inventories rose more than expected last week, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration, to continue oil to fall further than previously.

US oil inventories rose 5.7 million barrels in the week ending October 25, according to the Energy Data Administration, while the market awaited a rise of 494,000 barrels.

Gasoline inventories fell 3 million barrels, compared to expectations of a decline of 2.19 million barrels, while derivatives recorded a decline of 1 million barrels, compared with expectations of a decline of 2.35 million barrels. WTI futures were down 0.9%, and Brent fell 1%.     LINK

The below is a compilation of information gathered from various sources and should be considered rumor. When the 800#s were released specific official instructions on Zim redemption and currency exchanges would be published on approved websites as below.

As of Oct. 9 2019 the 800#s were in place and operational. Each country and region has been assigned certain 800#s. The US Treasury and the banks would be emailing Zim holders an 800#. Call the 800# for your region or bank, tell them the bank you wanted to exchange with (Zim holders would need to redeem with either HSBC or Wells Fargo unless your bank had made special arrangements to redeem Zim. HSBC ran the Exchange Centers and would have representatives there). They would then transfer your call to the proper Exchange Center to talk to a live person and make your appointment.

WARNING: When you call an 800# DO NOT give out the serial numbers of your currency or bonds, nor how much you had. The only things the person or computer on the other end of the line would need to know was the bank and zip code where you wanted to exchange and what you had (Zim, Dinar, Dong, etc.) so you could be directed to a Redemption Center in the proper area to speak to a live person and make your appointment.

I. Currency Exchanges and Zim Redemption Appointments:

Important information on how to exchange and redeem for participants worldwide would be on certain websites authorized to publish the 800#s so you could have a firm grip on appointment strategy prior to going in.

If you obtained your appointment through an 800# you would automatically receive the Contract Rates (with the exception of Zim holders, whose bonds were worth so much that Contract Rates would likely be saved for others).

The 800#s for currency exchanges would be out for 8-10 days. You would have those 8-10 days to make your currency exchange appointment and then 30-45 days to go to your appointment at a Redemption Center. After that you would need to exchange at a regular bank at a rate appearing on the Forex at the time of your exchange.

The 800# appointments for Zim redemption would only be available for a short period of time, said to be Nov. 15. After that you would need to make special arrangements to redeem your Zim. You could exchange both your currency and Zim at the same time, though only at a certified Redemption Center.

You don't need a project to redeem Zim. Zim would have a walk away rate (default package) for those without specific Humanitarian Projects.

With the exception of those over 70 years of age, all Zim would be paid out on a long term contract, with your choice of five to fifty years. The longer your contract period, the higher the interest rate you would be paid on your monies left at the bank during your contract period.

Seniors over 70 could get all their money up front with no reduction in currency rates, though would be given a lower default rate on their Zim.

Your Humanitarian Project could run up to 25- 50 years.
